Chris Warwick Science Courtyard

The landscaping of this courtyard was made possible by monies from the Chris Warwick Memorial Fund.

Chris Warwick was Head of Biology at HHS in the mid 1980’s.  An inspirational teacher and supportive colleague; a former pupil remembers:

“As a teacher he was great fun but knew when to shout if necessary.  He had unusual ways of putting facts across which were exciting and fun. When you are taught like that you always remember things.  Strangely enough I remember him having neat handwriting”

Anyone who worked with him will always recall him calling after children running in school  “Don’t run……………boogie!!

Chris became involved with the local community joining the Amateur Dramatic Group.  He played the lead role in “Whose Life is it Anyway” as well as the Dame in the local pantomime. There was “gossip” in school when he started going out with the French teacher Miss Spotswood, whom he married in Aldham Church.

The courtyard aims to reflect how science can be seen all around us, something Chris would have liked very much
